Patricia McKenna: Unusually reflective.

Former MEP Patricia McKenna warned that the Greens had to be “very careful about the message we send to the public”. Ms McKenna pointed out that the education cutbacks had already been decided in Cabinet and discussed and supported and it would be a “very bad signal now” for the party to turn around and oppose it. She said the Greens “need to pull our weight”.

Richard Boyd Barrett attacks PD refusal to exist as “Typical PD selfishness.”

Socialist Workers Party/People Before Profit/Save Our Seafront/No To War candidate Richard Boyd Barrett has lashed out at the decision of the Progressive Democrats to cease existence as a selfish act. Boyd Barrett delivered his rebuke at a SWPPBPSOSNTW meeting.

make-some-noise-jpeg.jpg“ It’s an absolute disgrace. By effectively ceasing to exist the Progressive Democrats have deprived the working classes of a unifying point of outrage. Whereas I could whip up left wing activists into a frenzy with a denouncing of McDowell or Harney, it just isn’t the same with Cowen, who appears on all points of the political spectrum simultaneously, or Kenny, who may actually be dead. The shameless refusal of the Progressive Democrats to get any votes is a slap in the face to the working classes.”
